Gene expression and its effects on the cerebral cortex
Cortical thinning and loss in cortical surface area occurs as a result of neurodegeneration, with the regional pattern dependent on the underlying disease. The molecular pathways leading to neuronal loss are still poorly understood, but determining which genes are differentially expressed may provide pathophysiological insight. Therefore, we are performing a transcriptome-wide association study of cortical thickness and cortical surface area.
We are open for more studies to be included in this effort. If your study has RNA sequencing and brain MRI data available, and you are interested in joining, please contact us.
